The Big 3-0

For me 30 is a sigh of relief. The fact that I didn't become a stripper or one of Charlie Sheen's "godesses" is the accomplishment of my 20s. Other accomplishments include a career under my belt, an understanding of why every weepy award-winner thanks their friends/family and an excitement to being alive that eluded me for much of my teens/early 20s. With a clear head and open heart, I think this new decade will just be fun...because in the end, what do we really have to lose?

The birthday theme this year will be "birthday bites" with multiple get-togethers with family and friends rather than one huge bday bash (sorry A). If anyone wants to get in on a bday bite, please let me know so we can schedule some good QT!!

ORRR donating a bit of money/time/supplies to Corazon de Dahlia is also something close to my heart. Below is a picture of the kids on their 1st field trip and a cutie at our community center in Saylla, Peru...

I joined CdeD last year as their Financial Officer and have really become a fan of their mission. The person who started it, Dahlia, went to Peru as a volunteer where she helped start a library for the children there. This extended to starting a non-profit organization that's in charge of running a community center supporting education and mental health for children and their families. My favorite thing is that kids as young as 6 years old go BY THEMSELVES to do their homework and have fun in a healthy and safe environment. After practically pulling teeth to convince HS kids to come to after-school tutoring (in-house) this fact still amazes me!!

More updates (with pics hopefully) to come of all this birthday madness!!
