the unexpected

so i woke up friday, checked my email and got ready to leave my apt. basically the normal ssdd stuff - except that when i tried to leave the door wouldn't unlock....and i had to meet a teacher for coffee in an hour! after wiggling and jiggling the lock, calling my mom to whine and imagining climbing up to my upstairs neighbor or down to the sidewalk via fire escape i got the brilliant idea to just unscrew the damn thing - freedom!! then i bought a new bolt, took the day off of work and tried to put it back on, thus realizing that i'm still screwed - for those of you who have been there you know...

then on saturday, i left my bolt-less door'd apt (yes, the one in nyc) for a jam-packed day/night. i strapped my laptop to my back and taught some gca kids, followed by a one-on-one tutoring session, followed by a scavenger hunt in grand central - which was awesome, and included the privilege of taunting my sister and her team as i ran (literally) through grand central. afterward, I had a few beers, twisted my ankle and missed the days when I had tolerance for a few beers. apparently, i'm getting too old for that shit ;)

overall, i had a few thorns the last couple days but here are the roses: 1) i LOVE my apt and the landlord...even with bursting pipes and f'd up locks. 2) i had the BEST.DAY.EVER with my team (brizz, andy, his new gf), and even my sisters team, during the scavenger hunt...i haven't laughed that much in a long time! and 3) the unexpected, embarrassing, frustrating things in life are kinda funny and are never boring.
